What is Partners in Progress?

Since the kick off of the Capitols for Kids Tour in Washington, DC in May of 2018, Americans for Equal Shared Parenting has toured the country helping local and regional organizations and individuals strategically plan ways to effectuate change.   Now AFESP is returning to Washington, DC to help lead and unify participants in the nationwide push for legislative reform to ensure children have equal access to fit, willing, and able parents, regardless of marital or relationship status of the parents.   This event is open to the public.

When and Where is 2019 Partners in Progress event?

This year’s event will take place on Friday, June 28 through Saturday, June 29, 2019.  Our host hotel for this year is the Holiday Inn Carlyle in Alexandria, VA.

What’s are this Year’s Goals?

This educational and inspirational event will meet the following goals:

  • Giving people hope by showing the progress the community is making;
  • Continuing to be heard by top tier legislators;
  • Educating members of the community on the proper methods needed to continue this progress;
  • Recap 2018 gains by celebrating victories, making critical networking connections, and strategically planning for the years ahead;
  • Further developing the unification of state and national communities and continue to showcase existing victories as leverage while enforcing the necessity of everyone working together to bring forth change;
  • Promote our professional image to negate the narrative created by the Bar Association of a “bunch of angry dads protesting on street corners”;
  • Engage with legislators, lobbyists, mental health professionals, legal professionals, and experienced community leaders.

What’s New This Year?

This year our two-day event will be jam packed with events and opportunities to network, learn, participate, and experience.  Not only will we have special VIP only events and special photo opportunities, we will feature THREE discussions sessions in which you will be able to ask questions of mental health experts, legal professionals, and legislative authorities.  This is all in addition to our symposium and networking opportunities from last year.

We will also be having the event at a new location this year that is more accessible via mass transit.  You can reserve a room now or if you are interested in car pooling or sharing a room, we have started a new Ride and Room Sharing Program.
